Reaching out for support is a brave and meaningful step.
If you're feeling lost, disconnected, or unsure of your place in the world - or if connecting with others feels especially hard right now - know that you’re not alone.
Many people feel this way at different points in life, and help is here when you’re ready.
About Nicola
Welcome. I'm glad you're here.
Reaching out for support takes real strength. If you’re feeling stuck, disconnected, or weighed down by anxiety, perfectionism, or the pressure to hold everything together, it’s okay. You’re not alone, and you don’t have to carry it all by yourself.
Whether you're navigating parenting stress, relationship struggles, or feeling like something just isn't quite right, therapy offers a space to pause, reflect, and reconnect with yourself. Together, we’ll explore what’s getting in the way and work toward changes that feel meaningful and lasting.
My work is rooted in psychodynamic therapy, with deep training from Fordham University and the Training Institute for Mental Health, where I also teach and supervise. I offer both in-person sessions in Manhasset, NY, and virtual sessions for clients across New York.
If you're ready to begin this process, I’d be honored to walk alongside you.
Reach out anytime at 917-696-3352 or by email to schedule a consultation.

Some questions you may be thinking about
How can therapy help me?
Therapy provides support for life's challenges. I help clients develop coping strategies for depression, anxiety, relationship issues, grief, stress, and personal growth. Together, we'll work on understanding yourself better, improving relationships, managing emotions, and building confidence.
Your active participation determines the benefits you gain. Through our work, you'll develop new perspectives, healthier patterns, and practical tools for life's complexities.
Do I really need therapy? I can usually handle my problems.
Seeking therapy shows self-awareness and strength. While you may have managed challenges before, there's wisdom in getting support when life feels overwhelming. Therapy provides lasting tools to recognize triggers, change unhelpful patterns, and build resilience.
Why do people go to therapy and how do I know if it's right for me?
People seek therapy for major transitions like job changes, divorce, or loss. Others struggle with depression, anxiety, relationship problems, or low self-esteem. Many want to understand themselves better and work toward goals. If you're ready for positive change and new perspectives, therapy can help.
What is therapy with me like?
Each person's experience is unique. We'll discuss current events in your life, relevant history, and progress from previous sessions. Therapy might be short-term for specific issues or longer-term for deeper patterns and growth.
Weekly sessions are most common. I may suggest activities between sessions like journaling or practicing new behaviors to support your progress.
What about medication vs. psychotherapy?
While medication helps some symptoms, therapy addresses root causes and teaches lasting coping skills. Many benefit from combining both approaches. Work with your medical doctor to determine what's best for you.
What are your rates?
The fee for counseling Individuals, Couples & Families is $225 per session. We offer a Sliding Scale to a select number of patients with demonstrated financial need. I am happy to provide you with all necessary information (a "Superbill) so that you may receive out-of-network insurance benefits if this is an option for you.
We do not directly accept insurance as we value the sanctity of the confidential relationship that we share with my patients. This would otherwise be breached if we adhere to insurance companies' strict mandates requiring us to regularly report patients' most private information and diagnoses.
If you have health insurance with out-of-network coverage, a large percentage of the fee can be reimbursed directly to you by your insurance provider. Typical reimbursement rates are between 65-85% for out-of-network services. Please check with your plan. Patients with out-of-network benefits are regularly reimbursed up to 65%-80% of my fee.
Do you take insurance, and how does that work?
To determine if you have mental health coverage through your insurance carrier, the first thing you should do is call them. Check your coverage carefully and make sure you understand their answers. Some helpful issues you can raise with them:
Coverage details and cost per session
Number of covered sessions
Out-of-network benefits
Primary care physician approval requirements
Does what we talk about in therapy remain confidential?
Your privacy is fundamental to effective therapy. Everything we discuss remains confidential, and I'll provide a written disclosure agreement. I cannot share information without your written permission.
Legal exceptions are:
Suspected abuse or neglect of children, adults, or elders
Serious risk of harm to yourself or others
I'm here to create a safe space where you can explore concerns and work toward positive change.
